Welcome to the Iona Presentation College Boarding House,
Mosman Park, Western Australia ….
a home away from home….

At Iona our aim is to provide a Christian environment where each girl can realise her own dignity and worth and develop in herself qualities of responsibility, honesty, co-operation and courtesy, punctuality and self-motivated learning.

Boarding is a wonderful, rewarding experience for the girls who commit to the life of the College and, in particular, to the life of the boarding community of Iona Presentation College; this experience is best when girls make an effort to join and be active in as many sporting, cultural, scholastic and social activities as possible.

The reputation of Iona Presentation College has been built largely upon the efforts and achievements of boarding students since 1907, and continues to play a significant role in the achievements celebrated by the College.

Iona is proud to offer girls from different geographical, ethnic and family backgrounds the opportunity to experience community living in the Boarding House.  Boarding life means being thoughtful and respectful, it means living harmoniously with one another.

Every effort is made to create an atmosphere of warm, relaxed friendliness and co-operation, essential for community living. This allows the girls to grow in self esteem and realise their full potential in all areas of school life, creating a sense of belonging in the Boarding House and being actively involved in day to day organisation.

Like any community, however, Iona Presentation College boarding community requires rules that clearly define the rights and privileges of each student.  With these rights and privileges come certain responsibilities.  All boarders are expected to abide by these rules and to be accountable for their own actions.  This will ultimately ensure the safety, wellbeing and happiness of all boarding students at Iona Presentation College.

Please take time to read this handbook to ensure that you are aware of your responsibilities, and clear on how you can contribute to the formation of a happy, harmonious and productive boarding environment.

All the staff associated with Iona are committed to helping you so that you may participate fully in College life and perform well at everything you are involved with, both in the boarding house and in the College.

I sincerely hope that your time at Iona Presentation College is extremely happy, challenging and rewarding, and that you have that on-going sense of belonging to something special for the remainder of your lives.
