An INSTEP experience in Kindergarten

INSTEP/Workplace Learning is a joint school and industry work placement strategy enabling motivated Year 11 and 12 students to work towards secondary graduation using school, workplace learning and, in some cases, TAFE style learning environments.

This valuable program is different to work experience as students have the opportunity to complete tasks related to their vocational course. They take part in relevant and real work, while being supervised by a professional.

Gabrielle O'Keeffe (Year 11 Treacey) shares her experiences below.

My current placement is at Mosman Park Kindergarten. I have seen what it is to be an early childhood teacher, and therefore have come to realise just how much work it truly takes.

Teaching a group of four year olds can be exhausting, but it is also by far one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had the privilege to be a part of!

I would like to thank Mrs Barnett, the Mosman Park Kindergarten Teacher. She has been a wonderful and welcoming supervisor who has guided me every step of the way. Now that I know more about teaching, I am sure that primary education is a career path I will definitely consider taking when I finish school.
