ANZAC Day at Iona Presentation College
The ANZAC ceremony, held each year at Iona, commemorates the service and sacrifice of our Soldiers, Airman and Navy personnel who have fought in past and present wars and those who are currently serving. The service is a time for reflection, remembrance and celebration of the spirit and mateship of our country.
During this year's moving service, Major Tony Smith from 13th Combat Services Support Battalion addressed the College.
Our three cadets who contributed greatly to the service were Isabella Burger (Year 12 Columba) and Jasmine White (Year 9 Columba) from TS Perth Australian Naval Cadets, and Angelina Petit (Year 9 O'Halloran) from 703 Squadron Fremantle Australian Air Force Cadets. Each cadet spent a significant amount of time practising and preparing for the day. This included marching, raising the flag and drill and ceremonial procedures. Each cadet was well-presented, professional and highly knowledgeable about their service drill.
I would like to thank and congratulate Isabella, Jasmine and Angelina, for the effort each cadet put into the day. Their effort was respectful to our ANZAC heroes and we are proud to have members of our College participating in these events and providing service within their communities.
