Cinderella - 'Let the magic come through'
Our Years 7 and 8 French and Italian students enjoyed the magical tale of Cinderella, a puppet show performed by Carrousel Theatre, on Thursday 16 March.
Based on the original tale Cendrillon (Cenerentola in Italian) written by Charles Perrault in 1797, the characters and the story gave the students an opportunity to enjoy, practise and understand the diversity of cultures around the world.
"I found it an amazing puppet show and I liked the contrast in both versions of Cinderella." Alex Morris, Year 8 Kildare.
"I really enjoyed watching the characters and settings change after each interval, and I loved how they made the play engaging and how they interacted with the audience." Eliza Wieser Year 8, O'Halloran.
"All in all, I believe that the play was wonderful, I especially enjoyed the French/English script and would like to see more in the future." Brianna Roberts, Year 8 Columba.
"The puppeteers were very clever in constructing the background, puppets and costumes of this amusing performance. The play was brilliantly organised and the puppets brilliantly constructed out of plaster according to our female leading puppeteer. This performance was one to remember throughout our school journey. Looking back on it now makes me laugh. C'est très bien!' Ella De Keulenaer, Year 8 Columba.
"I really enjoyed the puppet show. It was interesting to experience the Italian Cinderella. My favourite character was the monkey; he was funny and such an unusual character to see in Cinderella." Saskia Winters, Year 8, Kildare.
"I loved seeing the Italian version of Cinderella. How funny and interesting it was! I laughed at the stepsister character, who was very funny and ugly." Laila Ricupero, Year 8 Moynihan.
