Year 11 and 12 Dance students explore contemporary movements
Our Year 11 and 12 Dance students had the great honour of working with contemporary dancer, Russell Thorpe, earlier this term.
Russell is a founding dancer of Co3 and a prominent dancer in the contemporary dance industry in Australia. A graduate of WAAPA, he has worked with Barking Gecko Theatre Company, STRUT Dance, Rhiannon Newton and Raewyn Hill.
The students relished the opportunity to work with an industry professional to enhance their contemporary technique and improvisational skills. Learning advanced floor sequences and exploring the body's abstract movement through space, these workshops proved to be an invaluable experience for all students. They have also enriched the students' preparation for the rigorous Dance WACE Examinations at the end of this term.
A special thank you to the Performing Arts Department for organising this workshop.
