Wayang Golek perform for Years 6, 7 and 8 students
Our Years 6, 7 and 8 students had a very special morning watching a traditional Indonesian puppet play performed by Wayang Golek on Wednesday 15 March.
Wayang Golek are hand carved wooden puppets that take up to a year to be made. Wayang performances have been used in Indonesia to teach about history, politics and most fondly, great epics and fables. The Dalang (Puppeteer), Pak Sumardi, told part of the epic tale of good versus evil of The Ramayana, brought over to Indonesia from India many years ago.
