Tales from the Arabian Nights – A majestic performance by our Years 7 to 9 students
Nagle Hall came alive last week as our Years 7, 8 and 9 students performed Tales from the Arabian Nights.
The majestic costumes and set, enhanced by the ethereal lighting design, transported the audience to a land of kings, queens, bandits and demons.
Tales from the Arabian Nights is a stage adaptation by Donna Abela crafted from a range of classic fourteenth-century Syrian tales. In an ancient kingdom ruled by a cruel and spiteful king, our main storyteller assumed the task of convincing the bitter King Shahrazad of his misguided ways by telling him a collection of magical tales. As each tale was told, the issues of discovery, loss, love and life resonated with the King, eventually bringing about a change in the King's heart and reawakening his humanity.
After only seven weeks of rehearsal, our talented performers converted a challenging script into an enthralling performance of duel storylines and engaging characters. The production was a great success with some adoring reviews from audience members.
Many thanks to the production team including Mr Joshua Brant (Director), Ms Lauren Staniforth (Production Manager), Ms Min Adlide (Costume Designer) and Mrs Sharon Crump and Mrs Coby Brant (Production Assistants).
Technical and backstage roles were filled by the Production Crew, led by Mr Matthew Aris and Mr Sean Hartley.
Congratulations and many thanks to everyone who contributed to the 2017 Junior Production.
