Artist In Residence - Jacinda Bayne
Practical Arts was incredibly fortunate to welcome Artist in Residence, Jacinda Bayne, to the school for a week of inspiring workshops, live demonstrations, and creative learning experiences with our students.
Throughout the residency, Jacinda worked closely with our Year 9 and Year 10 Visual Arts students, sharing her professional knowledge and approach to landscape painting through hands-on workshops focused on layered glazing techniques in both acrylic and oil paint.
Students gained valuable insight into the creative process while developing their technical skills, confidence, and understanding of contemporary painting practices.
One of the highlights of the week was the opportunity for students and staff to observe Jacinda creating a stunning oil landscape painting live in the classroom. Watching her process unfold from beginning to end gave students a rare and inspiring glimpse into the working methods of a professional artist. Students were able to ask questions, discuss artistic decision-making, and gain a deeper appreciation for the patience, experimentation, and technical skill involved in developing a painting.
Jacinda’s residency brought an exciting energy to the Practical Arts spaces and provided students with meaningful opportunities to engage with professional arts practice in an authentic and highly motivating way. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity, creativity, and expertise she shared with our students throughout the week.
