Year 7 students build confidence at the Thrive Leadership Conference

Twelve Year 7 students were recently selected to attend the Thrive Leadership Conference at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre.

Designed to equip students entering high school with the skills, knowledge and inspiration to thrive during transition, the conference covered an array of topics including resilience, authenticity, connection, courage, dreams, strengths and emotions.

"I really enjoyed the Thrive Leadership Conference. I heard a lot of inspirational life stories that I will cherish. My favourite was Akram Azimi, Young Australian of the Year in 2013.  His talk really inspired me and I now know that I am so lucky to have been born in the beautiful country of Australia," Madeleine Ratajczak, Treacey.

"One of the people we listened to was Brett Stanford.  He is a YouTuber and has a channel called, 'How ridiculous,' where he does amazing trick shots into a basketball hoop.  When he was on stage, he told us to keep trying and never give up even in the hardest of times," Lucy Howard, Treacey.

"I really enjoyed listening to the inspirational stories. I really liked Akram Azimi, and Preston Smiles, famous for being a YouTuber, Author and Public Speaker," Jemima Graham, Columba.

"The Thrive Leadership Conference was an amazing experience and I felt privileged to be a part of it. The speaker's stories were very interesting and full of life lessons – we were reminded to never give up even when things are really tough!"  Riley Burd, O'Dowling.
