Technology

Bringing the Global World into our Classrooms…

At Iona, a technology-infused curriculum is provided for our 21st Century learners. ICT is used as a powerful medium to communicate, record student learning and bring the outside world into the classroom. From Kindergarten to Year 6, there is continuity and progression of ICT skills and concepts with clear lines of development. The overriding emphasis is on using technology appropriately to support engagement with learning so that we engender a life-long enthusiasm and love of learning.

To enrich learning programs at Iona, students from Kindergarten to Year 3 have access to iPads in the classroom. Each student in Years 4-6 have an iPad for use at home and school.  Each student from Year 7 to Year 12 is provided with a 13" Macbook for use at school and home. A comprehensive wireless system with 1GB internet connection ensures continual connectivity across the campuses.

These solutions allow students and staff the necessary tools required to create media-rich information, allow for collaborative opportunities and enhanced communication with the College community and beyond.

Examples of how technology supports learning at Iona are:

  • The Senior School campus has two dedicated computer labs, featuring 28 modern iMac computers in each, and the latest Apple and Adobe professional suite of tools.
  • Our Senior School students are afforded the opportunity to design, film and produce their own television productions in our state-of-the-art broadcasting studio.
