Performing Arts
The Performing Arts plays a major role in shaping the values of tradition and excellence associated with Iona Presentation College. As arts educators, our mission is to recognise and nurture the creative potential within every student. Through a range of opportunities in both Curricular and Co-curricular forums, students quickly develop the discipline and technique required to shape their understanding and experience for success in Dance and Drama.
The Live Performance Program presents Dance and Drama students with a number of excursions and incursions throughout the year. With analysing and critiquing live theatre being part of the Curriculum at Iona, students view a number of local performances by companies such as Perth Festival, Black Swan State Theatre Company and Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), as well as various interstate touring companies . Additionally, the Program provides a variety of workshops and incursion opportunities which allows students across all years to extend their knowledge and understanding in various areas of live performance.
Co-curricular opportunities in the Performing Arts include, but are not limited to:
- the Annual College Production
- Years 7 - 9 Production
- IGSSA Festival Dance (Intermediate and Senior Teams)
- the Performing Arts Showcase
- Musical Theatre Club
- Dance Club
