Iona Presentation College

Nurturing a Healthy Spirit

The wellbeing of your child is nurtured in many ways. Pastoral Care is embedded in every facet of College life and is an integral part to all educational activities. The wellbeing of our students is paramount and pastoral care is an area that Iona has always put to the fore, along with growth in faith and respect. It is a continuation of the work of our founding Sisters. Our aim at Iona is to guide students as they grow spiritually, emotionally and in their social development, so that they become resilient, independent and confident young men and women who can make a difference in the community.

At Iona, we provide a safe learning environment that nurtures your child in a holistic way: physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. In doing so, our students learn as part of a caring community that fosters individual gifts and talents.

Since the Presentation Sisters founded the College in 1907, Pastoral Care has been an important facet of Iona. The Sisters maintained an ethos of respect of others regardless of age, race, creed or ability, through successive generations of staff and students.

Pastoral Care is a responsibility shared between the College staff, students and families. It is about building relationships, enhancing a sense of community, meeting challenges and helping our students to feel that they belong. Our Pastoral Care programs are catered to suit the needs of each age group and are implicit as part of everyday life at the College. All staff; teaching and non-teaching, are involved in Pastoral Care at Iona.
