Year 11 students attend Women in Resources Awards breakfast

Maria Villegas, Charleigh Tubbs and Maddie Barrett (Year 11) attended the Chamber of Minerals and Energy's (CME) annual Women in Resources Awards breakfast at the Perth Convention Centre earlier this month.

The Women in Resources Awards (WIRA) recognise individuals and organisations working to build a world-class industry which provides attractive careers opportunities and enhances the recognition and participation of women in the sector.

"We heard about the amazing achievements of women in the resources industry, as well as the obstacles they overcame and the difficulties of working in a male dominant field," said Maddie Barrett, 11 O'Halloran.

"We were surrounded by over a thousand people, both male and female, supporting the development and growth of women working in the resource sector.

"It was inspiring to see so many people supporting the incredible achievements of some amazing women. It also gave us the chance to see the many fields of work that we didn't know existed and the impact woman can have in these areas.

Maria, Charleigh and Maddie said they were incredibly grateful for the opportunity to attend and acknowledged Mr John Galvin, Georgiou Group, for sponsoring them.
