Celebrating Our Young Artists' Success
We are thrilled to share the recent achievements of our talented Visual Arts students, who have been recognised across several prestigious youth art exhibitions in Perth.
Over the past week, selected students have exhibited their work in the City of Nedlands' Emerge Youth Art Awards, the Shaun Tan Award for Young Artists, and the St George's Cathedral Art Exhibition. Each of these opportunities celebrates artistic excellence and creativity among young people in Western Australia.
Emerge Youth Art Awards – City of Nedlands
Now in its 13th year, the Emerge Youth Art Awards is a highlight of the City's youth program, showcasing emerging artists from across the state. We are incredibly proud of our students who had their work selected for public exhibition, representing the College with creativity and confidence.
Shaun Tan Award for Young Artists – City of Subiaco
This award encourages imaginative and innovative work from students across Years 1 to 12. A special congratulations to Lucy Couanis (12 O'Dowling) who was awarded equal third place in her category for her outstanding artwork Submerged, described by the judges as "demonstrating fantastic technical skill while capturing wonderment in the facial expressions."
St George's Art Awards – St George's Cathedral
This prestigious exhibition highlights the talent of senior secondary students in WA. We're delighted to announce that Holly Bulger (12 Kildare) was awarded Winner of the 2D Category, one of the most competitive sections of the show. Her deeply personal work, Tuned Out, powerfully explores her experiences of hearing loss and social disconnection, balancing vulnerability and strength through her visual narrative.
We commend all our student artists for their hard work, vision, and commitment to creative expression. Their success in these high-profile events reflects the strength of our Visual Arts program and the rich talent of our Iona community.
